Motivation
The number one reason is the lack of real motivation. So what do I mean by
“real” motivation? I say “real” as to make a distinction
from motivation we all have through our big dreams and big goals. We can all
get fired up on the fuel of dreams and desires. Yet how far can we drive on
this fuel alone? Yes it’s good to dream. The idea of driving a fancy
car, living in a luxurious home and go on lavish vacations is all achievable
and ok to dream about. It's just that very few are willing to actually work
for it. Once they find out it's not as easy as they hoped they quit or worse
they foolishly play their hand at get-rich-quick schemes.
Because of such human nature this is where the major problem in this industry
begins: unrealistic or even fraudulent advertising. It's why the most people
on the outside of this business see network marketing/MLM as nothing but mere
scams.
Marketers capitalize on the greed and desire to get rich to draw prospects
into their programs. Make hyped up promises, making you believe the true potential
in making you wealthy in a short time, talk about a few successes and most
of all, make it sound really simple. But that's not how it works in the real
world.
What does all this hype do for the prospect? It causes them to have false
expectations. They expect it all to come easy and they expect to make fantastic
money fast. They expect to simply click a button and in return have a never-ending
stream of passive income. Is this realistic? No, of course not.
So what do you think happens next to the prospect that invests money into
a programs like these? First they find out that it doesn't work! They then
end up frustrated; most will quit and leave the MLM scene altogether telling
everyone the story of yet another MLM scam. Others will move on to something
else to have another go at it. This can lead to what is called program jumping.
Program jumping
For those whom have quit over hyped programs then moved on to other programs
are in danger of what’s now referred to as “program jumping”
where as you join different programs on regular basis because they are not
yielding results. The truth is that 97% of the people who get into network
marketing fail. Most of these people fail not because they have the wrong
MLM Company, or poor upline support. Again it’s the lack of real motivation.
You need to work to achieve your dreams it does not come handed on a plate.
At this point I feel the urge to tell a quick true story about a member of
one of my downlines who obviously went off program jumping. Just before he
abandoned the program we were in, he recruited a few members including a real
go-getter in his downline. Go figure! To cut a long story short, all he needed
to do was upgrade as his downline was and he would have been making about
$300 a month in the true passive sense. Well that money flowed up to me, as
I was next upgraded person in line. Lucky I don’t program jump. The
moral of the story is don’t program jump your not going to get rich
quick you need to work at it. You need to recruit and train your downline
to recruit
A cure for better results
Focus on the importance of training both for yourself and your prospects.
Like most other business, network marketing requires certain skills and an
underlying understanding of the basics. Building a profitable network marketing
business isn't really that hard to achieve, but it's impossible without those
fundamental skills and actions. Learn to understand the importance of self-improvement
you can’t afford not to learn something new because you simply don't
feel like it. If you don't want to learn new skills such as building online
relationships, involving your prospects or how to develop leadership skills,
you never will. Then you won't have much of a business either.
You will see the increase in success from training almost immediately: Good
training develops useful skills and results. Although this is an excellent
start; it’s not the real secret success formula. Please do not get me
wrong here, developing skills and using them effectively is vital, but there
is something deeper that drives this. It's the inner desire for self-improvement,
“the success attitude”. This isn't something you can purchase.
You either have it, or you don't. If you do desire self-improvement, yet it
feels a little challenging or weak, don’t worry you still have what
it takes inside you to succeed. Believe me I have come a long way myself,
since the days when copy and paste where my best developed skills.
If you want long term passive income in network marketing you'll need to take
the focus away from the money making compensation plans and the reliance on
others for success. As a leader in your team, you must convince your downline
that self-improvement is the key to success. Yes it’s not as easy as
it sounds, but if you sincerely try it will grow with you. Plugging into motivational
sources and practical training is something that everybody should do on a
daily basis. If your program has support forums use them! Success does not
come gift-wrapped it’s something you need to work at.
Only when we teach people to improve and recruit and pass the message on,
are we able to build leaders that can work independently and that are equally
capable of developing leaders that are also capable of developing more leaders
an so on.
Notes on improving our recruiting skills
There is no real excuse for not being able to make referrals into a good
program. Lack of time is what I hear most. The last time I said “I don’t
have enough time” was when my old boss gave me some extra work. He just
yelled at me and said, “MAKE TIME!” So that’s what I had
to do. If this is your main excuse than this is what you have to do also.
Think about it for a moment, does you program recruit for you? If the answer
is YES you might be in a scam, or it is very misleading. The answer is more
than likely NO, because all good honest programs reward each individual fairly
for their efforts.
The answer is really simple; lack of time means make time. If you really honestly
don’t have much time; you will need to spend more money on advertising.
If you are a little vague on what you have to do or what you need to use.
Ask! If you are unsure as to what works best? Ask your upline, if they don’t
know ask their upline, or plug into support in a forum. Do not have the financial
resources for advertising? Hey, use the free resources they are fantastic
really. Eventually you can spend some of your earnings on advertisement. Improving
your recruiting abilities is one of the first skills you must learn on your
road to self-improvement.
Communication
Another important skill widely overlooked, yet vital for leadership success
is communication! Here the focus is on two aspects of communication.
1) You need to build a rapport with your downline, no matter what level of
skill you are at. So for heavens sake say hello, introduce yourself, invite
them to hang out with you and your friends in discussion forum or support
forum. If you don’t get a reply, follow up again and again. Likewise
if someone in your downline requests help respond to them. If you can’t
help them, be honest and refer them to the support forum or forward the request
to their upline. This is called Networking.
2) The second aspect of communication deals with the problem of not receiving
a reply to your pleas for help. If after sending many, many e-mails, you still
do not receive a reply, it is highly likely that the person you are trying
to contact has probably signed up to the program with a false e-mail address!
Why do that! They obviously think that they do not need any help. We all need
help at some time or another.
Clear communication is so very important! Use your primary or secondary email
account that you use at home for communication. Even use them for free programs
you join, there is some much you are missing! Remember the story about my
downline member who missed out $300 a month? If that person had seen the e-mail
concerning the upgrade notices in his inbox, he might have thought twice about
jumping to another program. Likewise, myself, I was very unsure of Herculist,
as a safelist when I joined as a free member, to me it was just another safelist.
After noticing a lot of signups I realised it was more popular than most and
discovered I had money there, so I upgraded immediately.
Avoiding so called overwhelming admin emails or even Spam is not an excuse.
There are other ways of dealing with unwanted emails. I receive over 1000
emails in my primary account every day from many programs. Everything is filtered
the way I like it and the sign-up & payment notification keep me motivated!
Do not miss those important emails; keeping in touch with everything and everyone
is vital to your success!
Other tips for success
Are you a go-getter?
There are many of us who believe that working 7 days a week online is the
only way to get things moving faster. Those of us who are really motivated
do work at it 7 days online. Of course look after your health as well, have
a break when needed.
Do you pay attention to detail?
Do not panic it’s not a race, even though we are all in a hurry! You
will find the answers to most of your questions are right in front of you.
Although, whilst it is ok to ask help from your upline, it’s always
nice for them, if you truly have studied something carefully before asking.
Read again, then again, if you feel that you do not understand something it
is not the end of the world; you are not being silly in asking someone for
help.
Be Organised
This applies to everything.
Keep bookmarks in an orderly fashion
Organise you routine for each day. Time management; find time to advertise,
find time to learn. As you get experienced you will be building websites for
yourself and other creative projects/tasks. The weekend is great for this!
Control your email
As mentioned before, you need to stay in touch with everything even the
free programs. But it is true you will end up with unwanted emails eventually.
Some admins in free programs do send too many solo adverts. You need to learn
how to use your email client filters and create folders for the “filter
rules” – it is not difficult, it is all about being organised.
You may get an admin that is really over the top with sending emails then
go ahead, break the general communication rule and change your contact details
in your profile to a junk account.
The general idea is not to miss a beat. A reliable email account is something
that should be seriously considered, “free” email accounts do
not stand up to the test of time; it is worth every penny to invest in a good
account. They are not expensive at all and should be one of the first items
on your agenda, before sending out any emails, especially to safelists.
Free advertising works!
Often free advertisng is the best and should never be overlooked. It has
cost nothing. but you will still get results. Sometimes, paid advertising
is not always the answer in the first instance; it has cost money and can
take sometime to recoup the outlay.
Learn to use tracking
Tracking devices range from the free simple versions like URL redirectors
with hit counts, to the fully-fledged statistical reports. You can measure
your advertising hits with these. The reason in bringing this up now, is to
point out a few things about sign-up ratios. If you are getting plenty of
hits yet not many actual sign-ups, it might be time to evaluate your subject
headline, try out a few different headlines to see which one attracts people`s
attention the most. If none of your headlines are bringing in sign ups, then
it is time to evaluate the program itself. Programs that require a fee to
join are often harder to get sign-ups as opposed to free programs with choice
of an upgrade.
Join a good free program
If you are new or still struggling to recruit people; a free program with
the choice of upgrading is the best place to start. If you cannot recruit
a handful of people into a free program, what makes you think you can recruit
people into a program that costs $20 a month just to join. On that note it
is also worth mentioning that it is easy to get sign ups for a program that
costs $20-$30 a month than it does for a program that only costs $100-$200
a year. Food for thought?
